We offer both standard and customised festival tours. Thailand, and North Thailand, in particular, has many fantastic festivals. These events are not very well promoted in general. Festivals such as Loy Krathong and Songkran, the Buddhist New Year, are nationwide festivals and very well-known.
Both these festivals are much better in Chiang Mai than, for example, in Bangkok.
There are lots of other festivals and events that are barely promoted. An example is the Salak Yom festival (or ceremony) in Lamphun. This is a spectacular event which you should not miss if you are in North Thailand in September.
The Poy Sang Long ceremony is a very colourful event and definitely worth watching. It is a Shan (Tai Yai) ordination ceremony that usually takes a couple of days.
If you are in North Thailand and you have the opportunity to witness a special event you really should take it. There are a lot of local festivals as well in cities such as Chiang Rai and Lampang and towns such as Nan, Phrae, Sukhothai, Mae Sariang and Mae Hong Son.
In some cases, we will offer tours to enjoy big festivals such as Loy Krathong and Songkran in smaller towns. Please let us know if you are interested in a customised private tour. We have the expertise, knowledge and experience to make these trips a once in a lifetime experience.
