Doi Wawee is a remote village in Chiang Rai province. Not much is known about this predominantly Chinese community. The good road from Mae Suay to Thaton via Mae Salak and Wawee used to stop at Wawee. After that it was a dirt track. The road has now been reconstructed and is absolutely spectacular. The views are magnificent and there is very little traffic. Wawee is really a forgotten corner of North Thailand and we are going to change that. Who doesn’t know the Wawee coffee brand? The coffee beans come from Doi Wawee. There are also lots of tea plantations around the town. To make it even more interesting there are villages of Yao, Akha, Lisu and Lahu in the vicinity. There is a resort in town: the Lao Lee Resort aka Laulee Resort. If you are looking for an off-the-beaten-track destination this really is the place to go.
