Chiang Rai White Temple Tour
Wat Rong Khun, the “White Temple”
Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Chiang Mai at 0800 for a more than full-day private Chiang Rai White Temple Tour. Expect to be back at the hotel at around 2030. We will drive to Chiang Rai which will take around three and a half hours allowing for stops along the way. Our first stop will be at the Mae Kachan Hot Springs for coffee and toilet stop. The second stop will be at Charin Garden Resort. After this, we will continue to Wat Rong Khun, the famous “White Temple”. Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat designed it in 1997. Since then Wat Rong Khun has become one of the most well-known attractions of Chiang Rai. We will take our time here. We will visit the museum as well. Then it is time for lunch. Enjoy a tasty Thai lunch at one of our favourite restaurants.
The Blue Temple & Kuan I’m
After lunch, we will visit the Blue Temple aka Wat Rong Suea Ten. It is the brainchild of another Thai national artist, the late Tawan Duchanee (1939-2014). The Blue Temple was finished in 2016. Since then this temple has become a very popular attraction. Another recent addition to Chiang Rai’s attractions is Wat Huay Pla Kang, a complex featuring a 9-tier pagoda and a giant statue of Kuan Im (Guan Yin), the goddess of mercy. It is next on our program. We will spend some time here. If you wish you can take the elevator to the highest floor of the pagoda from where you have a lovely view over the surrounding area. It is time to slowly make our way back to Chiang Mai.
The Golden statue of Kruba Srivichai
Last major stop on our Chiang Rai White Temple Tour will be another fairly new spectacular temple: Wat Sangkaew Photiyan. This huge complex is overwhelming. Three golden statues of monks overlook the area. The middle statue is that of Kruba Srivichai, the patron saint of North Thailand. Drive back to Chiang Mai where we will drop you off at the hotel around 2000.
