A restaurant at a heritage property
Good food in a nice ambiance
The restaurant serves a diverse menu featuring international and Thai cuisine, with standout dishes like yam hua plee (banana blossom salad), khao mok gai (chicken biryani), and prawn with tamarind sauce. Reviewers praise the food for its exceptional flavors, refined presentation, and reasonable portion sizes, with signature cocktails like the Tamarind Margarita and The Lampang earning high acclaim for their creativity and taste.
Photos from the heydays of the teak industry
In several rooms downstairs old pictures adorn the walls. I recognized many photos from the photo album of Frank Frere. Frank was the last manager of the Louis T.Leonowens company in Lampang. Most of the photos show staff of the company and scenes from the teak logging industry before World War Two. Some employees and British consuls might have visited the house in those days. Overall, the house brings back memories to a period that abruptly ended with the beginning of World War Two.
Facts about the Baan Phraya Suren
The old house has a large garden. Next to the house they have built the restaurant with in- and outdoor seating. The decoration of the restaurant is very tasteful. The service is very good and the food and drinks are reasonably priced. You can enter the old house unless there is an event. In 2023 we had dinner and drinks in the bar in the old house but that doesn’t seem to be possible anymore.
The location of Baan Phraya Suren
The property is located about one km from the Lampang railway station. Please note: Baan Phraya Suren by Madame Muser is closed on Tuesday.
