Chiang Mai Walking tours
We offer several Chiang Mai Walking tours. Transportation will be by local transportation. On foot you see different things than by bicycle or vehicle. Our half day Chiang Mai walking tour focuses on the Wat Ket area and the Warorot and Tonlamyai markets. The Wat Ket area and the Ping riverside were the first areas where missionaries and teak loggers settled in the late 1900’s. You will see the first Christian Church and our guide will bring the past to life with lots of old pictures on his tablet.
You will visit a temple with a remarkable small museum. By footbridge you will cross the Ping River to the Warorot and Tonlamyai markets. Both there markets were destroyed during a devastating fire in 1968. This area is also known as the Chinatown of Chiang Mai. We continue our walk to the Chinese Muslim area Ban Haw. Here we will visit the Ban Ho Mosque and enjoy a bowl of traditional Khao Soi in one of our favorite restaurant. We continue through Charoenprathet Road and stop at two remarkable teakwooden buildings, each with its own story. We end Chiang Mai History walk at a magnificent 145-year old teakwooden Lanna style house.
The Backstreets of Chiang Mai is a full day tour that includes transportation in the famous red taxis. We make a number of short walks in different areas of Chiang Mai. You will visit the Burmese temples in Thapae road such as Wat Buppharam. You will visit another Burmese temple within the moat and walk to one of Chiang Mai’s famous markets. Wat Chedi Luang is one of the more visited temples but next up are the temples of the Wualai Silversmith village.
